I’ve heard rumors of Galveston Officials saying that they may not rebuild Galveston. I’m not sure if this is true, and certainly hope not. As a native Houstonian, Galveston has always been our summer hot spot. But Galveston is not a wealthy town. Over the years I’ve seen a lot of businesses go down because of lack of business. Most Galveston residents have been there for many years, and just don’t come from high society backgrounds. I hope that Galveston comes back bigger than ever, because I want to take my grand kids there on weekends, and I want Galveston to be there for their kids and grand kids. One thing is for sure… as citizens, we need to help our selves and help others in times of need and peril. Too many people are looking for a handout and support when tradgedy strikes, often taking advantage of the systmem in ways that are dishonest. All they are doing in the long run is making things worse. And how about the example they are setting for their kids? People often ask “Whay does our God allow this to happen?” I believe that the answer is because these crisis bring us together. And God isn’t giong to stop doing this until we see the light and start looking out for each other… and start caring more. It’s a big world out there, and we’re much better off going it together.
