A Tribute to Bolivar

A great musical tribute to the residents of Bolivar…

Writes the creator of his visit to some kind folks on the peninsula:

Ted’s Grandparents gave us everything we needed and were such wonderful hosts. They have always been so nice and fun as long as I have known them. We stayed at their beach house, not a vacation house but a home to them. They had literally every one of their personal belongings in the place. It was their home. Last night I stayed with Ted & Cathy in Houston to work on some things and Ted was playing this video to me, I was floored. I held back the tears while Cathy cried a little. I haven’t seen up close what the damage was like from Ike. Of course we all saw pictures and overhead shots, I for one, just put those pictures in the back of my mind and thought everything would be OK. I mean Ted’s Grandparents were such nice people that I knew bad things just couldn’t happen to them.

So don’t forget…

No Escape from Hurricane Ike

Writes the creator:

On September 13, 2008, Hurricane Ike made landfall on Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island. During the night, the ocean surged and rose around the remaining residents, blocking off all hopes of escape. This tribute, created on October 12, is dedicated to our beloved Bolivar, and all she lost. I went down the peninsula where we once owned a property at Rollover Pass in Gilchrist. My teenage son, Thomas, was with me. I held him a little closer that day. Remember the lost. Let’s “Bring Back Bolivar”.
