Seawall Boulevard Update

Writes the video creator:

Took a solo trip to Galveston to survey hurricane damage. Though in all the trip was quite disheartening, I found Galveston to be in much better shape just a few months after Ike than New Orleans was a year after Katrina.

Robots to explore Ike’s Aftermath

This is pretty cool…

The Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue (CRASAR) and the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) at Texas A&M University will be inspecting the extent of damage and mapping the underwater debris field on the Rollover Pass Bridge on Thursday and Friday (Dec. 18 and 19) using a small robot pontoon carrying a new type of underwater acoustic sensor. The bridge, which collapsed during Hurricane Ike, is located near Galveston.

New East End Flyover

Video of East End of town and East Beach, taken October 4th.

It’s good to see the traffic moving and the big debris piles near the Flagship gone.

If I’m not mistaken, this footage was taken from a powered paraglider. Very cool…
